Joyala is where grown-ups play again. These terms keep Joyala fair for everyone: members, hosts and the venues who open their doors to us. They're written to be read, not skimmed by lawyers, but they are the real deal you agree to when you join or attend.
1. Who we are
Joyala is registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KVK 97988340), Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Questions: info@joyala.club.
2. Membership
Membership gives you access to the member calendar, member pricing, hosted rooms and the community. It is personal and tied to your account: it can't be shared or lent. You must be 18 or older to join.
You pick a plan with an initial term: monthly, quarterly, half-year or annual. Plans renew automatically at the end of each term.
3. Cancelling or changing your membership
Cancel anytime in your account or by emailing info@joyala.club. Your membership stays active until the end of the period you paid for, then simply doesn't renew. Renewal is switched off the moment you cancel.
Payments already made are not refunded; you keep full access for the period you paid for. This applies to every tier, including Annual: cancel any time before your renewal date and the next period simply never starts. Switching between plans is done in your account and takes effect at your next renewal.
When your membership ends, seats you had reserved for free for dates after your last day are released so someone else can take them. Anything you paid for, event tickets and trips alike, stays yours.
The 14-day cooling-off period. Because you join online, you have the legal right to withdraw from your membership within 14 days of purchase, without giving a reason: email us and we refund your membership fee. If you attended member events during those 14 days, we may deduct a proportionate amount for the period already used, as EU consumer law allows.
4. Event tickets
Some events carry their own ticket, paid through the event's payment link. For those events, payment is the reservation: nobody is on the list until the ticket is paid.
- Free cancellation until 72 hours before the event. Cancel more than 72 hours before start and your ticket is refunded in full, automatically. Within 72 hours of start, cancelling frees your seat for someone else but the ticket is not refunded. Plans change, we get it: within that window you can still transfer your ticket to another member. Tell us before the event starts who is coming in your place.
- If Joyala cancels an event, you get a full refund of that ticket. Automatically, no need to chase us.
- Every event has a capacity. Bookings and reservations close when it is reached; a cancellation reopens that seat.
- The 14-day cooling-off period above applies to your membership, not to event tickets: event tickets are for a specific date, which EU law exempts from withdrawal.
Trips follow their own rhythm: free cancellation until 14 days before departure, refunded automatically. After that the booking is final: the trip cannot be cancelled and is not refunded, because your seat is committed to the group and the operator. If something serious comes up inside those 14 days, email info@joyala.club and we will see what we can do. Everyone booked receives the full itinerary by email one week before departure. The 72 hour rule above applies to events, not trips.
5. Venues and reveals
Venue addresses stay secret until shortly before doors, that's part of the game. The address reaches members on schedule; guests attending an open event get it with their reservation.
6. Cameras and your face
Photos and video may be taken at events, because joy is worth remembering. We always ask before pointing a camera at anyone, and opting out is always honored, at any event, no questions asked. If a photo of you slips through anyway, one email and it's gone.
7. How we play
- Play is an invitation, never a force.
- Respect and consent, always. One warning at most.
- Alcohol-optional, always: nobody comments on anybody's glass.
- We may decline or end a membership if behaviour endangers the room; where we do, unused full months of a prepaid term are refunded.
8. Common sense and liability
Games are played by grown-ups at their own risk. This applies to everyone who takes part in anything found on Joyala, members and guests alike: you join events, activities and trips at your own risk. Joyala's liability is limited to what Dutch law does not allow us to exclude; we are not liable for venues' own acts or for your personal belongings. Nothing here limits liability for intent or gross negligence.
Partner events are organized and run by the partner named on the event, at their location and under their responsibility. Joyala lists these events and handles bookings; the partner is responsible for the event itself, including its safety and execution. Any claims about a partner event are a matter between you and that partner, though we will always help connect you.
9. Play Money
Play Money credits are promotional: 1 credit equals 1 euro toward a Joyala hosted night. Credits do not pay for partner nights, trips or membership itself. Credits are personal, cannot be cashed out or transferred, expire 12 months after being earned, and referral credits are reversed on both sides if the referred first payment is refunded within 14 days. A referral credits both people: the member who shared the link and the member who joined through it, once that first payment clears.
10. Changes
We may update these terms; meaningful changes are announced to members by email or in the community before they take effect. If a change genuinely disadvantages you, you may cancel per section 3.
11. The boring-but-important line
Dutch law applies. Disputes go to the competent court in Amsterdam, unless mandatory consumer law points elsewhere. If one clause turns out invalid, the rest keep playing.
